One of the wheeled armored vehicles developed by the U.S. Army during World War II was the M8. Ford developed the vehicle based on U.S. Army requirements and it was standardized in May 1942. It was deployed as the main equipment for cavalry reconnaissance squadrons. The vehicle had a 66 mechanism and a monocoque-type body welded together. It was powered by a 110-horsepower straight-six gasoline engine in the rear. With a top speed of 90 km/h, it exhibited high maneuverability through 6-wheel drive. A rotating turret was equipped on the vehicle's top, with a 37mm tank gun as the main armament. It was deployed in combat from Monte Cassino to Anzio in the Italian front, and also participated in the Normandy landings, demonstrating its mobility.
