It's a fine print made directly on a metal foil surface and bonded with artist wax to a heavy backing. The metal etching changes appearance with the direction of light, keeping it forever new and interesting. It will be like a rainbow, never appearing the same way twice. The map is enriched with a border of eleven portraits across the top. Pope Innocent XIth is in the center, while the horsemen depict all the reigning monarchs of the day including Charles II of Spain, Johannes III of Poland, Louis XIV of France and the Sultan of Turkey, with whom the West was at that time; at war. There is some stretching and pulling, as well as as wrinkling; but it is still an amazing historical art artifact.
