In 1936, the initial type of this tank was standardized and deployed across various fronts, continuing to fight until the end of the war. Following standardization and deployment, it underwent continuous updates and improvements, serving as a mainstay of the German army throughout World War II. Notably, the G type was designed with a long 75mm gun as its main armament from the start. Production began in May 1942 and continued until June 1943, resulting in over 1600 units. This model then evolved into the final type of the IV tank, the H type.
